Wedding Wednesday: Something Blue

via here and here

In a dream world my "something blue" is gorgeous sapphire jewelry. These antique pieces definitely fit the bill.

What do you think about the "something old, new, borrowed and blue" tradition?
Outdated or still totally appropriate?

Make Kony Famous

KONY 2012 from INVISIBLE CHILDREN on Vimeo.

You may have seen this video floating around, but I simply had to share it here. I have blogged about Invisible Children before, but now it's more important than ever that I share their message.

2012 is the year. It's the year that the world knows about Joseph Kony. It's also the year when this monterous man is brought to justice. Which would make it the year the many show the few that we have the power to create change. Please join me in spreading the word.

Travel Shoes

I am on a very seriously quest to find some shoes for my Italy trip that are both comfortable and cute. Ideally I'd like arch support and underfoot comfort that will last through walking all day. Everything that is labeled "comfort" might as well have an minimum age requirement of 70. Everything cute seems like it will leave my feet aching. Ugh! It's so frustrating!

You may say "TOMS!" Well, they don't fit my wide feel (womp womp). Here are some of my ideas that could work, what do you think?

from Nordstrom and Cole Hann

PS: I'm slightly obsessed with those yellow drivers but I'm worries they'll be too hot for Italy in July. Thoughts?

Wedding Wednesday: Photographer Selected

After quite a few posts of brain storming for Wedding Wednesday, I am excited to share some details of our wedding planning. We selected a photographer! His name is Bryan Rupp and as you can see from the photos here, he's amazing.

I have been following Bryan's work for years and am literally astounded by his ability to capture such real, honest emotion from his clients. No photo feels staged. Instead, each frame looks like an artfully directed movie still from the story of your life. It's hard to contain my excitement right now so I spend at least 10 minutes on his blog a day, scrolling through old posts. If you love gorgeous photos of people blissfully in love then I recommend that you do the same.

Aaaand we're back

via

Whew! I'm back!

Work is a lot better and school is slowly improving. Sooo that means I have a few spare minutes to pop over here and socialize with you all. Man, does it feel good to come up for air.

What have you been up to?!

Apology

Sorry for the radio silence friends. My work, school and social life have all been swamped, which sadly leaves blogging at the bottom of my list. I'll get back soon, I swear.

Wedding Wednesday: DIY?

I am obsessed with the handspun quality that so many weddings have these days. The idea of coming together as a couple or as a group of friends to create aspects of your special day seems so meaningful. However, I also hear horror stories every so often of brides so hellbent on DIY that they actually spent and stressed more trying to achieve the look they want. That sort of defeats the purpose, huh?

Here are some projects I'd really love to try and conquer for our wedding...

Heartbreaker

Happy Valentines Day everyone! In honor of the day I thought I'd do something good for my heart and get sushi with my man then head home to watch a movie with a glass (okay, okay, half a bottle) of wine.

On Sunday I'm doing something really good for my heart and participating in the Heart Breaker 10k. If you're in the Portland area and want something fun to do with your sweetie or bestie, sign up for the Heart Breaker Half couples division. You each race one leg so you not only accomplish something together, you get a little competition going between you-- which is always good for the heart (or at least for the ego if you win... and you will).

Pintrest mash up

Be honest, you feel a little neglected don't you? It's okay, I understand. How could you not? Here I am "pinning" every day while you nervously tap the refresh button waiting for a new post.

It's only natural to be upset, but you could have the best of both worlds if you followed me on Pintrest. Here's a little mash up of what I've been pining to pin recently...
