Travel Plans: Kauai

via

Only two weeks after we return from Italy (see destinations here and here), Stephen and I are off to the island of Kauai for a destination wedding.

Remember Kristy and Sean? They're having an amazingly beautiful and intimate ceremony on the island. Even though our workplaces weren't thrilled that we'd be taking time off again, we were lucky enough to be able to RSVP "yes" to this extremely exciting event.

Above: Where I plan to spend every moment. Below: Our ah-maz-ing hotel!

Have any of you been to Kauai before? It will be our first time so we'd love any tips or recommendations.

wa-wa-wa-wait! you're staying at the Hyatt Poipu?!?!? That is our DREAM hotel!!! It's crazy spendy - how are you doing it!? I am majorly jealous right now :) I want to know details on how it is when you get back!! We ate dinner there (at Tidepools) twice on our honeymoon - it was THAT good!

You will love Kauai! It's so serene and beautiful. My hubby and I went there for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Princeville, which is on the North side (opposite of the Hyatt). It's a totally different scene. The south side is sunnier and has more action. The north side is more peaceful and romantic. My advice would be to spend time in both, go on lots of hikes and take a helocopter ride. And enjoy yourself! You'll have so much fun.

Sara - We stayed in this luxury vacation rental: http://www.guesthousekauai.com/

It was really beautiful, but honestly we wished we would've stayed in a hotel right on the beach. Would've been much more convenient/relaxing. This would be a good place to stay with another couple on vacation. We didn't make it the Plantation Gardens, but heard of it! Your wedding will be stunning! Kauai is such a magical place. We fell in love with it on our honeymoon. If you're interested in things to do/paces to eat, I did a blog post all about our honeymoon:

Congratulations!
